Our Story

Award-Winning Private UK Tours

Zing Tours is an award-winning, family-owned business specialising in private guided tours throughout the UK. Our team consists of Blue Badge Tourist Guides, the highest qualification for guides in the UK, achieved through two years of rigorous study and eight exams.

With over 13 years of experience in the travel industry, Zing Tours has created and delivered thousands of private, small-group tours, often customized with unique themes and a personal touch. Based in Liverpool, we offer a range of tour options, including half-day, full-day, and two-day experiences that highlight Beatles history, cultural excursions, and soccer tours.

Each season, Liverpool and Holyhead receive approximately 100 and 35 cruise calls, respectively. Zing Tours provides a wide array of private small-group shore excursions from both ports, featuring breathtaking scenic drives and exclusive experiences. Liverpool is conveniently located about 45 minutes by car from Manchester International Airport and 2 hours and 10 minutes by train from London. Our licensed driver-guides are available to meet clients at London Heathrow and Edinburgh International Airports for multi-day tours. All guides carry personal liability insurance, and our vehicles are fully licensed and insured for hire and reward.

With a background in arts and business, Claire spent 14 years as the marketing manager at National Museums Liverpool, promoting renowned exhibitions and cultural collections. She trained as a Blue Badge Tourist Guide in 2013, later establishing The Comedy Coach Tour. In partnership with Neil McDonald, she co-founded an award-winning tour guiding agency that trained and employed over 30 guides. Claire also co-authored A-Z Hidden Liverpool Walks and teaches part-time. Known for her 5-star reviews, Claire brings unmatched enthusiasm and expertise to her tour planning and guiding roles, crafting unforgettable experiences for every guest.

Liverpool-born James is a seasoned travel and tourism professional whose career spans tour management, guiding team leadership, and waterfront operations.

A licensed Driver/Guide with a Business Management degree from Liverpool John Moores University, James qualified as a Blue Badge Tourist Driver/Guide in 2025.

He specialises in creating bespoke tours for families and corporate groups, with a particular focus on soccer-themed experiences that combine stadium visits, hospitality, and live matches across top UK venues.

James also brings Liverpool’s rich cultural heritage to life by weaving The Beatles’ music and legacy into his tours. Renowned for his attention to detail, he delivers personalised, memorable experiences for every guest.
